Not only do I enter my internship site with a badge of my own, but I also enter with lovely people who welcome me with, "hello's" and "good mornings". I begin my mornings starting at 8:30 am in my mentor, Matias, office on the second floor. As my mentor and I discuss my daily plan for the day, we sit in "my little round desk". I usually begin by entering data on to a torque and weight sheet for the Automated Filling Machine. |
After my lunch break, I was on my own, along side one of my mentors co-workers, Manny, mentor had to leave early. But knowing I was still able to manage my assignments illustrates that I'm able to work without supervision.
The 2nd floor is where the paper work is being runned and the 1st floor is where all the labs and machines are at.
Every time someone enters in one of the labs needs to wear a bouffant cap, for safety reasons. I'm usually in the room where the Filling Machine is at since that is where I collect the data from. The Filling Machine is inside a wall shield so the chemicals won't get on anyone surrounded as easily. I'm not able to be inside with the machine due to age restrictions and hazardous issues.

Today was quite enjoyable since a new pump for the Filling Machine arrived. I go back down to the 1st floor where the pump is located at. Since I had to restart the scale every time I would press the foot lever (as seen on the right) that gave the amount of weight the pump would shoot out, it took time to fill in the data on the worksheet. And by the end of the day, where I end work at 3:00 pm, I finish by entering more data for the torque and weight excel sheet. I was also assigned the task of filling more papers but since I worked on the new pump and entered more data, Kathy, who I file paperwork with, and I were pretty much left with doing it tomorrow since we were both occupied with work. The filling room has filing cabinets surrounding each wall, full of paperwork that Kathy and I are reorganizing in numerical order and we are barely still on one column out of the 20 something cabinets. |
