The Pringle challenge
Fir the Pringle Challenge Our goal is to make sure our Pringle to make a round trip and arrive back to our school perfectly intact and not Pringle dust. We had to make sure that our packages are strong enough to protect people's things during shipping, light-weight, saving airplane fuel and making sure the package was not to big to save space for other packages.
We used a small container that way our package won't weigh a lot. Of course we had to use a pringle since the whole project was to create a design so our pringle won't break on it's way. The reason my group used insulation foam is because we had trouble making sure the pringle was kept safe and that it was fully covered. Since insulation foam expands we figured it will go to the curve of the pringle that way it won't snap in half.
My groups score compared to our classmates was not bad at
all. We were successful yet not the winners because we did have some
damage to our pringle.
The overall score for the completion is the intactness score/(Mass in kg x Volume in cc) x 100
Intactness Score x 100
(Mass in kg x Volume in cm)
My groups intactness score
was 6.7 and our mass was 48g and volume was 1980cm^3. In order to put
the mass in kg we had to times it by 1,000. When I calculated
everything I got 7.04 rounded to 7.05.
The only thing I would change in the future if we were given the chance
to re-do this challenge would be to find a solution quickly. Other than
that I don't think I would change anything! Maybe just be a little more
careful taking the Pringle out of the container.
