Investigation
"This part of my digital portfolio will highlight some of the activities or investigations that we do in our math/ physics class."
marshmallow challenge
The marshmallow challenge was very fun. At first it was a little weird because it was in the beginning of school and I didn't know anyone. It was interested to work with people I didn't know because our ideas were not the same. I was paired up with Destin, India and Connor. I learned that it was challenging at first because we had all these ideas and we were trying to incorporate them all in our design to make the marshmallow tower. It was also challenging because we were timed so we had to work fast. At last, the time ended and we made it. 2nd place, our prize was a whole starbursts.
"Lights Out" Challenge
The "Lights Out" Challenge was very interesting The materials we got for this challenge were a notebook, a paper clip, a piece of gum, 2 AA Batteries, a light bulb, foil, a paper bag, loose change, and a pen. For this experiment we had to create a flashlight with the materials we had. We were given a handout with a story of two boys who were hiking and had some difficulties during the way to a cave. Once they reached the cave they had to create a flashlight since the one they had broke and it was dark inside the cave. So for this assignment was to create a flashlight with the same materials under a minute or so and once there was once we ran out of time my teacher turned off all the lights aas if we were in a cave. We figured it out and made our own little flashlight We went into the teachers bathroom which is super dark and we tested it out and it worked!
Barbie Bungee Lab
The Barbie Bungee Lab was super fun once we got to see Barbie jump of the stairs. We first had to fill out a handout seeing how far she went down depending on how many rubber bands we tied up together. We had to then estimate how many rubber bands would give Barbie a safe and fun jump from the staircase. Once we got our trials done we calculated from our prediction and the calculators answer. Between our prediction and the answer we got from the calculator we estimated the number of rubber bands Barbie needed to be tied up to have a safe jump from the staircase. The number my group got as 34 rubber bands. But unfortunately the correct number was 31, which came closer to the ground.
