One of the most important skills you need in a workplace is "self advocacy" - the ability to speak up for yourself when you need support, when you're confused about something, or when you're uncomfortable with a situation.
Since my externship involves solving puzzles, Savannah and I made sure to communicate to the students or adults to be gentle with the puzzles and other props that would be used for the escape room. But at times during or after a group is completing the game, puzzle boxes wouldn't open and were stuck and it always seemed to be the same one all the time. We were able to fix them but it would often happen. We would contact Dr. Don for help and we were lucky enough to have spares of other lock boxes. But the downfall during these situations when a game is on play is when we would have to give the group the answer instead of them solving it. We would have loved it for them to figure it out for themselves.
In the first room that the group has to first solve, there were three posters on each wall that gave a lock combination, but the lock box for that would not open so we had to completely remove that puzzle and create a new one. Thankfully, Dr. Don was able to assist us in making a new puzzle that would work and give us a new box.
