My externship actually started yesterday, May 8th. But as my first day getting used to setting up the escape room and having 3rd graders trying to solve the room, I felt excitement for the next few weeks. It was fun assisting the 3rd graders and having them solve the puzzles and clues. For a young group, they caught on real fast and as more groups came, the easier it seemed for them to solve the room. But since they were a larger group of around 20 students, we split half so one group could solve one room and the other, the other room. I felt comfortable in the work setting since the escape room was built by my peers and is in my school. It was also interesting to know that they were able to create such a room in 3 weeks and have it displayed for people to play. But I am not alone. My friend Savannah, is also helping with the escape room.
Because the escape room was already built my partner and I main job is to help assist, monitor, and set everything to its specific place for every new game. So there is a lot of memorization s to where things are put. Such as, putting each lock to its own box, setting each puzzle in their designated box, charging the cameras that allows us to monitor the two rooms, downloading the app, QR code that will help as a clue and much more. We have just so far worked with elementary students, so I am excited to see how other students and adults work to solve the game.
